about

Everything has a story behind it; basically this one is about a trip I recently took to India. Being the arsehole I am I decided to fly to Kolkata with no guide book or clue what I was doing, and soon after I arrived in the filthy cow and goat crap infested city, I found myself sitting in a sun glass shop/cell phone dealer where the owner was moonlighting as a bus and train ticket salesman .Outside a goat was eating garbage behind a bus and a group of Indians where taking a communal shower at a nearby tap. I knew India was going to be interesting and hobo as hell. Every place I thought could be cool to visit, was booked well in advance so the guy was like why don’t you go to Darjelling? So I was like ok, book me a ticket, I didn’t have a clue what this place was about and only once I got off the 16 hour hell ride where I was convinced on numerous occasions I was going to die in a flaming bus wreck. I hoped onto a 4x4 jeep that started riding up a huge mountain and I realised I was in fact in the Himalayas (judging by the road signs), right near the Nepal and Tibetan border. I then found myself cruising up the hill ever getting closer to a town famous for its amazing tea, its teak and of course the towering mountains. I met some awesome people, ate on the streets with old and young locals, and visited various cool spots including the Tibetan rehabilitation refugee centre, amongst riding on old steam trains, along mountain paths. They were some of the nicest folk I’ve met on the road, so I decided to write this song and dedicate it to what is going on at the moment in Tibet. It was recorded and produced in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam, by Brett Newski, he also added a little slide guitar to it. If it’s rough that’s because it was recorded live in one take. With, very little overdubs and production added to it.
